Have you ever carried a burden for so long that it has become a part of your identity? A weight that bends you over while the world walks on by. We often hide these silent battles—a secret worry, a private grief, or a brokenness that has lasted for years—feeling invisible even in a crowded room.
In the Gospel of Luke, we meet a woman who knew this feeling intimately. For eighteen long years, a spirit had left her crippled and bent over, unable to even look up. She was in the synagogue, the very house of God, a place of community, yet her prolonged suffering had become background noise. In her own community, she was unseen.
But Jesus saw her. This is the heart of the Gospel. It was not a passing glance; He saw her entire story of pain, humiliation, and quiet endurance. He stopped the service, broke with all tradition, called her forward, and spoke words of absolute authority and love: ‘Woman, you are set free.’ Instantly, she stood up straight—physically and spiritually restored—and her first response was to praise God.
That same Jesus sees you today. He sees past the smile into the silent struggles you carry. He knows the weight on your heart. Your struggle is not a sign of His absence; it is an invitation for His power to enter your life. He uses these very moments of trial to reveal His presence and His loving kingship over your circumstances. He doesn’t wait for you to be perfect; He moves toward you in your pain. Therefore, do not believe the lie that you are invisible. Let Jesus touch the bent-over places of your life. Let His voice speak freedom over your oldest wounds and problems, for He is the great Restorer. Our God is a God who sees, a God who heals, and a God who restores. That is our unending hope. Amen
