The entire foundation of our faith rests upon the answer to a single,
profound question: Who is Jesus to you? While the world, through things
like The Da Vinci Code, offers distorted views seeking to reduce Him to a
mere man, the Apostle Paul gives us the unchanging truth in Colossians.
First, Paul declares that Jesus is the image of the invisible God. He is not
simply like God; He is the perfect representation of God in a way we can
see and know. When you look at the compassion, grace, and truth of Jesus,
you are seeing the very heart of the Father. There is no need to guess what
God is like; we need only to look at His Son.
Second, Jesus is supreme over all creation. He is the head of the Church
and the firstborn from the dead, holding the ultimate authority over
everything. Think of Him as the conductor of your life’s orchestra. When He
is given His rightful place as the center, every other part of your life—your
family, your work, your worries—falls into beautiful harmony. Without Him,
there is only chaos.
Finally, and most personally, Jesus is the Reconciler between God and us.
Our sin created a vast chasm between us and our Creator. But on the cross,
Jesus became the bridge. He paid our debt and died the death we
deserved to restore our broken relationship. The cross was a rescue
mission, bringing us from separation into fellowship, presenting us holy and
blameless before God. This truth demands more than mental agreement; it
demands total surrender. Committing to Christ is like a marriage vow—a
promise to give Him your whole life. Like the missionary David Livingstone,
who found his strength in Africa’s darkest moments by trusting Jesus’
promise, “I am with you always,” we too must hold on to Him. Let Jesus be
your King, your Reconciler, and the unshakeable center of your life. Amen.
